Why intervals are not the same for every building
Periodic inspection of electrical equipment is carried out at intervals according to ČSN 33 1500. The interval depends on the type of equipment and the external influences acting on it. That is why a website cannot give a single number for a hall, a school and an outdoor switchboard.
The legal framework is Act No. 250/2021 Coll. and Government Decree No. 190/2022 Coll. The technical intervals come from the standards.
Initial and periodic inspections
- Initial inspection before new or reconstructed equipment is put into service.
- Periodic inspection of equipment already in use.
- Extraordinary inspection after an incident, intervention in the wiring, fire, flooding or a change of use.

Frequently asked questions
Does every company have a five-year interval?
No. Five years is common for some installations in ordinary environments, but it is not universal. The type of equipment, external influences and the last report decide.
Who is responsible for keeping the interval?
The operator of the building or equipment. The inspector assesses the condition and recommends the next date, but tracking the interval stays with the organisation.
What if we do not have the last report?
The inspection can still be done. Missing documents make comparison with the previous state harder. Mention it in the enquiry.
Do schools and production have different intervals?
Often yes. Schools, wet processes, outdoor equipment or harsher environments usually have shorter intervals than ordinary offices.
